Supporting electromagnets
These devices are designed for supporting or gripping ferromagnetic parts.
The maximum retaining force is obtained by contact with flat mild steel parts, with a surface area equal to or greater than the attraction surface, and with a sufficient thickness (equal to at least 1/8th of the diameter ofthe electromagnet).
Any gap, no matter how small, will noticeably reduce this maximum force.
